Nigeria/ Driver charged in fatal crash involving Boxer Anthony Joshua

The driver involved in the crash that killed two friends of boxer Anthony Joshua has been charged and remanded. Mr. Kayode faces four counts, including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid licence, according to police.

He was granted bail set at 5 million Naira (£2,578) but remains in custody until the conditions are met. The case has been adjourned until 20 January.

The fatal collision occurred on Monday on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Joshua was a passenger in the Lexus SUV that hit a parked truck.

His friends, Mr. Ghami and Mr. Ayodele, died at the scene. Joshua, unharmed, was seen being helped from the wreckage.

The boxer, who was visiting family in Nigeria after a recent fight, has expressed being “heavy hearted” over the loss.

Promoter Eddie Hearn and opponent Jake Paul offered public condolences to the families and Joshua.
