Burkina Faso: The Presidential initiative for quality education, a commitment to the country’s future

President Ibrahim Traoré is advancing his vision of a modern and prosperous Burkina Faso through the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ). The Head of State has rolled out a series of concrete measures to strengthen the education system, with a particular focus on access to quality infrastructure. As part of this effort, Nazi BONI University in Bobo-Dioulasso is benefiting from new facilities, including a 1,000-seat amphitheatre, classrooms, and administrative offices.

A defining feature of this initiative is the involvement of local craftsmen in furnishing the university buildings. President Traoré has directed that the furniture for these complexes be supplied by artisans from the Guiriko region.

This decision reflects his commitment to promoting local expertise and fostering endogenous development.

By engaging Burkinabe craftsmen in equipping these facilities, he is directly supporting the local economy while addressing the needs of students.

A consultation meeting led by the IPEQ Technical Coordinator, Dr Raymond Ouoba, brought together artisans to launch discussions on furniture proposals.

Dr Ouoba emphasized the importance of this collaboration to ensure infrastructure quality and equipment durability.

The President intends for this initiative to serve as a model of partnership between the State, local enterprises, and the academic community.

In addition to the 1,000-seat amphitheatre, a second 500-seat university complex is also planned.

These projects are expected to significantly improve study conditions and address infrastructure shortages at Nazi BONI University.

Through these investments, President  Ibrahim Traoré is demonstrating his determination to build a strong educational future for all Burkinabe while advancing a sustainable development policy rooted in local resources.
