Burkina Faso and Algeria strengthen ties with new energy and mining cooperation agreement

Burkina Faso and Algeria have taken a new step in their bilateral partnership by signing a memorandum of cooperation covering the key sectors of hydrocarbons, energy, mining, and training. The announcement was made by the Algerian Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.

This agreement addresses concrete needs for Burkina Faso, particularly regarding the supply of petroleum products.

The document thus provides for mechanisms to facilitate and secure fuel deliveries to the country, a crucial issue for its economy and the daily functioning of its services.

The development of exchanges in the field of liquefied petroleum gas is also among the priorities.

This cooperation could enable Burkina Faso to diversify its sources of gas supply, used by many households for cooking and by certain industries.

Strengthening storage and distribution capacities is another major focus of this agreement.

With the support of Algerian expertise, Burkina Faso will be able to improve its logistical infrastructure and reduce the risk of shortages that have affected the country in the past.

Finally, the exchange of expertise and experience between the two countries will enable a beneficial transfer of skills.

Burkinabe technicians and engineers will be able to train with their Algerian counterparts, who have extensive experience in the operation and management of energy resources.
