Media strategy and National cohesion: Minister Khaled Ahmed Denna’s vision for a unified Sudan

Media discourse constitutes a fundamental pillar in defining the contours of political and social vision during times of upheaval. It is in this context that the name of Khaled Ahmed Denna, Minister of Information and official spokesman for the Peace Government of the “Taasis” (Foundation) Alliance, has emerged as one of the key actors in shaping the media narrative of the coalition advocating for a civil, democratic state.

The Pillars of Khaled Denna’s media plan

The media efforts led by Denna revolve around several structural and political orientations, the most prominent of which today are:

  1. Restructuring the media system: Denna has unveiled plans to establish modern media institutions aimed at forging a unified national narrative and rebuilding media discourse in line with current challenges.

  2. Establishment of official platforms: The plans include the launch of unified digital platforms and the creation of a specialized news agency to convey the official position and help restore Sudan’s media presence both domestically and internationally.

  3. Guiding principles of ministerial discourse: Official communications are based on firm positions calling for an end to the conflict, the dismantling of the influence of the former empowerment regime (Nizam al-Tamkin), and support for the establishment of independent, constitutional national institutions.

  4. Countering what is perceived as hostile media campaigns: This involves pushing back against what the ministry considers to be hate-mongering and division campaigns orchestrated by the Muslim Brotherhood’s media outlets, through debunking rumors and disseminating official clarifications.

  5. Promoting the “Peace Government” branding: The media consolidation of this political designation aims to position it as a strategic choice to end the war and restore stability.

Furthermore, the media discourse emphasizes the preservation of Sudan’s territorial integrity and social fabric against any calls for partition or fragmentation.

These steps reflect an attempt to create a unified media framework that expresses the political viewpoint of the alliance Denna represents, while also shedding light on pressing humanitarian issues and offering perspectives that serve the interests of the Sudanese people especially the marginalized populations who place great hopes on the “Taasis” Alliance today.

Added to this is his field presence at a number of local media stations and radio outlets in Darfur. His repeated visits to the Radio and Television Corporation headquarters in Nyala underscore his commitment and his strong support for all free media platforms working in the service of the citizen and the nation.
