A tough weekend for Jules Koundé: FC Barcelona Defender falls victim to another burglary
FC Barcelona’s French defender, Jules Koundé, had a challenging weekend as he faced not only a 3-5 defeat against Villarreal but also became a victim of burglary at his residence in Sitges, near Barcelona.
After the final whistle at the Olimpico Lluís Companys stadium, Koundé returned home to find it ransacked, with broken glass scattered throughout, indicating a break-in.
Spanish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with initial reports suggesting that the perpetrators climbed a wall and broke a window to gain entry.
This unfortunate event is not the first for Koundé, as he had previously experienced a burglary in April last year during Barcelona’s decisive victory over Real Betis (4-0).
Having joined FC Barcelona in 2022 for a transfer fee of 50 million euros from Sevilla FC, the 25-year-old French international, with 24 caps, plays a crucial role under coach Xavi.
Despite being the second-most utilized player behind Ilkay Gündogan, recent Spanish media reports hint at Koundé appearing more reserved in recent weeks, raising questions about a potential departure.
