Jurgen Klopp Praises Xabi Alonso as a Standout Among New Generation Managers

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Xabi Alonso as a standout among the new generation of football managers.

Speculation has linked Alonso to the managerial role at Anfield after Klopp announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Alonso, the 42-year-old manager of Bayer Leverkusen, currently leads the German Bundesliga, five points ahead of Bayern Munich.

Klopp commended Alonso’s impressive work, noting the quick progress and unique stamp he has put on his team.

The former Liverpool midfielder took over at Leverkusen in 2022 and has guided them to an unbeaten run across all competitions this season.

Despite Klopp’s impending departure, Liverpool is currently leading the Premier League, two points ahead of Manchester City. The team faces Brentford on Saturday at 12:30 GMT.
