McDonald’s named new title partner for Ligue 1: The Era of Ligue 1 Uber Eats comes to an end

The French first division football championship is set to undergo a significant transformation in its branding starting from the next season. The current naming partner, “Ligue 1 Uber Eats,” will no longer be associated with the championship as their naming rights agreement has reached its conclusion.

This change marks the end of an era for Uber Eats’ partnership with the league, which began in the 2020-2021 season after taking over from Conforama.

Following extensive deliberations and negotiations, the Professional Football League’s board of directors has secured a new naming partner for the championship.

McDonald’s, the renowned fast-food chain, has been chosen as the “title partner” for Ligue 1 starting from July of the upcoming season.

This partnership is not a short-term fix; instead, it encompasses a three-season deal, highlighting a long-term commitment between McDonald’s and the French football league.

The rebranding will see the championship officially renamed as the “Ligue 1 McDonald’s,” reflecting the new partnership and bringing a fresh identity to one of Europe’s prominent football leagues.

Financially, this partnership is expected to bring significant benefits to Ligue 1, with reports indicating an annual sum of 30 million euros from McDonald’s for the naming rights alone.

This substantial investment signifies McDonald’s commitment to supporting French football and enhancing the league’s visibility and appeal both domestically and internationally.
