Burkina Faso/Shellfire incident: The President of Faso, like a good father, comforts RTB employees

The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, made a significant visit to the Radiodiffusion and Television of Burkina Faso (RTB) on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

This visit followed an incident involving artillery fire on Wednesday, June 12, which caused material damage and injuries to RTB staff.

Captain Traore’s presence aimed to express compassion, provide reassurance, and show support for the security of the RTB team.

This gesture also dispelled rumors circulated by adversaries of the state, suggesting the President had fled to a neighbouring country.

These false claims, driven by those seeking to destabilize Captain Traore’s leadership, were refuted by his public appearances on June 14 for blood donation and June 16 for Tabaski prayers.

Despite earlier claims linking the President to the artillery incident, later disproved by the Burkinabe Armed Forces General Staff, President Traore’s visit to RTB underscored his commitment to addressing challenges and maintaining stability in the country.

Following the RTB visit, the President joined his government for the weekly cabinet meeting.
