Taraji P. Henson to host 2024 BET Awards

Actress Taraji P. Henson is set to host this year’s BET Awards, the annual event celebrating influential figures from African-American and minority communities.

 

Henson expressed her excitement and honor, describing the awards as the “biggest night for our culture and a crucial platform for showcasing talent and leadership within the community.

 

Drake tops the nominations with seven, including Album of the Year for “For All the Dogs,” and a nod for the video “First Person Shooter,” his collaboration with J. Cole.

 

Nicki Minaj follows closely with six nominations, including Album of the Year for “Pink Friday 2.”

 

Henson, drawing from her theatrical background, likened hosting the awards to performing live theater, appreciating the immediate audience feedback and energy.

 

She also highlighted the importance of the BET Awards as a safe space for celebrating black culture and inspiring future generations.

 

The actress expressed particular enthusiasm for Will Smith’s performance at the event, anticipating his new music.

 

The BET Awards will take place on June 30 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
