Albert Sambi Lokonga set for Sevilla loan move with potential £10 Million permanent deal

Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga is on the verge of joining Sevilla on a season-long loan, with a medical scheduled for Friday.

The deal includes an option for the Spanish club to make the transfer permanent next summer for approximately £10 million.

If Sevilla exercises the purchase option, Arsenal will benefit from a 25% sell-on clause, ensuring additional revenue should Lokonga transfer again in the future.

The 24-year-old’s current contract with Arsenal is set to expire next summer, but it includes a provision for a 12-month extension.

Lokonga, who joined Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021 for around £16 million, initially made a promising start at the Emirates Stadium.

However, he has recently fallen down the pecking order, spending the previous season on loan at Luton Town.

Despite the Hatters’ interest in retaining him, their relegation from the Premier League cooled their pursuit.

Sevilla’s interest in Lokonga has been strong throughout the summer, as previously reported by Standard Sport.

The Belgian midfielder has expressed enthusiasm for the move, citing a long-held ambition to play in Spain and the challenge of competing in La Liga.

For Arsenal, the loan deal represents a strategic opportunity to recoup funds and potentially secure a future windfall through the sell-on clause.

The Gunners will be satisfied with the prospect of banking £10 million next summer, considering Lokonga’s limited playing time in recent seasons.

Lokonga’s upcoming medical at Sevilla marks the final step in solidifying his move, bringing a fresh opportunity for the midfielder to revive his career in a new league and environment.
