Leny Yoro joins Manchester United in surprise transfer from LOSC Lille
Leny Yoro has taken the football world by surprise with his move to the Premier League, as Manchester United officially announces his transfer.
Initially linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, it is the English club that has secured his services.
Manchester United paid a fixed fee of €50 million, with an additional €12 million in bonuses, to acquire the 18-year-old from LOSC Lille.
Yoro’s signing is part of the ambitious transfer strategy of Manchester United’s new owners, who recently added Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for €42.5 million.
This unexpected transfer concludes a saga that captivated football observers.
Manchester United expressed their delight in securing Yoro, pending registration, with the defender signing a contract until June 2029, including an option for an extra year.
At 18, Yoro has already played 60 matches for Lille’s first team and was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season last year after helping his club finish fourth.
In his first comments, Yoro expressed his excitement: “Signing for a club of Manchester United’s stature and ambition so early in my career is an incredible honor. I am aware of Manchester United’s history with young players and believe it is the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions alongside my new teammates. I can’t wait to get started,” said the French international.
