Côte d’Ivoire: Official launch of the 2024 Hevea seed collection campaign

On July 18, the Italian oil and gas company Eni officially kicked off its 2024 rubber seed collection campaign in Côte d’Ivoire. This announcement, made via a press release on Eni’s official website, marks a significant step forward in the partnership between Eni and the Federation of Rubber Producers of Côte d’Ivoire (FPH-CI).

The initiative follows an agreement signed in July 2023 aimed at strengthening collaboration between Eni and local rubber producers.

This strategic partnership ensures a steady supply of rubber seeds, a vital resource for various industrial applications.

Eni has set an ambitious target for this campaign, aiming to collect 50,000 tons of rubber seeds.

This goal highlights the importance of Côte d’Ivoire in Eni’s supply chain and reflects the strong mutual trust between the company and local producers.

The rubber seed collection presents a major economic opportunity for Ivorian farmers. By turning what was previously considered waste into a valuable resource, this initiative reduces waste and provides additional income for farmers.

Moreover, it aligns with sustainable development practices by enhancing the value of by-products from the rubber industry.

The success of this campaign could pave the way for similar projects, strengthening economic ties between Côte d’Ivoire and international companies like Eni.

It may also serve as a model for other agricultural sectors in the country, promoting inclusive and sustainable rural development.
