Burkina Faso/Assumption: President Ibrahim Traoré calls for unity and solidarity among Burkinabe in the face of the challenges of the day

As Burkina Faso commemorated the Assumption Day on Thursday, August 15, President Ibrahim Traoré delivered a powerful message of unity and solidarity to the Burkinabe community, emphasizing the importance of collective action in facing the nation’s challenges.

The message, conveyed to various parishes by delegations sent by the President, underlined the critical need for national cohesion in the face of ongoing threats.

In his address, President Traoré highlighted the severe challenges posed by terrorism, which continues to disrupt the peace, threaten national security and stability, and hinder the country’s development and the well-being of its people.

He called on all Burkinabe to unite in confronting these common threats, urging that now is the crucial moment for citizens who cherish peace and stability to pool their efforts in the shared struggle to secure a decisive victory against the nation’s enemies.

The transitional government views the unity of all Burkinabe as a formidable weapon against any threat, regardless of its origin.

President Traoré stressed that while the brave sons and daughters of the nation are fighting on the frontlines, civilians also have a role to play in safeguarding their homeland from harm and guiding it towards its rightful destiny.

The Catholic Church in Burkina Faso, composed of the country’s own sons and daughters, is also called upon to fulfill its role in this national effort.

President Traoré exhorted the Church and all citizens to foster unity and solidarity, noting that such cohesion is essential not only for strengthening internal resistance but also for warding off external influences that might seek to weaken the collective struggle and derail the nation’s progress.

This message from the President during a significant religious celebration serves as a reminder of the critical importance of national unity in overcoming the multifaceted challenges facing Burkina Faso today.
