Real Madrid struggles continue with draw against Las Palmas

Real Madrid’s challenging start to the season persisted on Thursday evening as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Las Palmas in their third La Liga match. The encounter highlighted the difficulties the reigning champions have faced in finding their form this season.

Las Palmas came out strong, taking advantage of a sluggish Real Madrid side. The breakthrough came early, with Alberto Moleiro capitalizing on defensive lapses.

In the 5th minute, he navigated past Tchouaméni and Militao on the left side of the box before slotting a well-placed left-footed shot into the net, giving the home side an unexpected lead (1-0).

Las Palmas, buoyed by their early success, dominated much of the first half. Real Madrid, despite their efforts, struggled to create clear opportunities.

Their best chances came from powerful shots by Valverde and Rüdiger, but Las Palmas goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen made crucial saves to keep them at bay. The first half ended with Las Palmas deservedly in front.

In the second half, the dynamic shifted slightly as Las Palmas began to sit deeper, inviting more pressure from Real Madrid. The turning point came in the 67th minute when Alex Suarez handled the ball in his own penalty area.

Vinicius Jr. stepped up and calmly converted the resulting penalty to bring the visitors level (1-1). Real Madrid intensified their efforts in the final stages, with Kylian Mbappé and his teammates pushing hard for a winner.

However, Las Palmas remained disciplined, frustrating Madrid’s attempts to break through again.

With this result, Real Madrid finds themselves four points behind Barcelona after just three games, a sign that the defending champions are far from their best as the season gets underway.
