Togo: under the presidency of H.E. Faure Gnassingbé, the country becomes a full member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo is making significant strides on the international stage to bolster its development. On September 4, 2024, Togo achieved a significant milestone by becoming a full member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), following six years of initial membership.

This development was formalized with a ceremony in Beijing, marking the country’s enhanced status within the prestigious institution.

As a full member of the AIIB, Togo is now poised to access critical funding for major infrastructure projects across various sectors, including health, education, energy, digital technology, transportation, and water.

This move aligns with the AIIB’s mission to support sustainable infrastructure development globally, reflecting the vision of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

For Togo, this membership is a pivotal moment in its quest to achieve substantial infrastructure advancements.

By joining a bank that now includes 119 member countries, Togo is strengthening its international position and gaining vital resources to improve its citizens’ quality of life and drive economic growth.

This achievement highlights the effectiveness of President Faure Gnassingbé’s strategic reforms and his commitment to leveraging international partnerships to propel Togo toward a more prosperous and interconnected future.
