Burkina Faso: The authorities are very sensitive to the situation of vulnerable households

Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, the government of Burkina Faso has recently launched a program aimed at supporting disadvantaged populations. The initiative, known as “Lafia,” targets citizens who are either engaged in, or aspiring to start, income-generating activities, providing them with essential financial support.

The program offers low-interest loans to individuals who have completed training and are involved in economic activities, with the primary goal of helping them reintegrate into society and reduce their vulnerability.

It is expected that approximately 100,000 households will benefit from this initiative, which has been widely praised by the public.

To make this possible, nearly 10 billion FCFA has been allocated, in partnership with the National Fund for Inclusive Finance (FONAFI) and financial service providers. This funding will enable beneficiaries to grow their businesses and achieve financial independence.

This initiative also underscores the commitment of Burkina Faso’s leadership to improving the socio-economic conditions of its people and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens.

The program addresses the significant challenges faced by small-scale entrepreneurs in accessing financing through traditional institutions, providing much-needed relief.

Moreover, “Lafia” aligns with President Ibrahim Traoré’s vision to foster entrepreneurship among young Burkinabe, creating an active and self-reliant population that contributes to inclusive and sustainable development across the country.
