Togo strengthens its local consumption strategy under the impetus of President Faure Gnassingbé

Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, the Togolese government is demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting local consumption, exemplified by the annual celebration of the “Local Consumption Month.” Running from October 1 to October 31, this event encourages citizens to prioritize national products.

This year’s theme focuses on the challenges and opportunities in developing the country’s industrial fabric, highlighting the intent to foster a vibrant and sustainable local consumption culture.

Organized in partnership with the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), the event aims to enhance the competitiveness of Togolese businesses through various initiatives.

The official launch on October 10 in Kpalimé will provide an opportunity to reflect on past editions while outlining new strategic directions.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to support local enterprises by involving all stakeholders in production, processing, and distribution.

In July, Togo took a significant step forward by adopting a national local consumption strategy, marking a pivotal moment in its economic transformation.

The goal is not only to achieve self-sufficiency but also to enhance the competitiveness of Togolese products in both domestic and international markets.

This initiative aligns with President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision of fostering a resilient and inclusive economy.

By engaging local stakeholders, the government aims to leverage local consumption as a catalyst for sustainable development, empowering local producers and improving the welfare of the Togolese population.
