La Liga/ Classico: Real Madrid condemns discriminatory chants targeting Lamine Yamal

In a night of high-stakes football at Santiago-Bernabéu last saturday october 26th , Real Madrid’s crushing 4-0 loss to long-standing rival FC Barcelona was overshadowed by a troubling display of racism in the stands.

Reports indicate that moments after Lamine Yamal scored Barcelona’s third goal, racist chants began to echo through parts of the Madrid stadium, targeting the young Spanish international and teammate Alejandro Baldé.

This Sunday morning, Real Madrid issued a formal statement denouncing the incident, pledging zero tolerance toward any form of discrimination in sports.

“Real Madrid firmly condemns all behaviors that involve racism, xenophobia, or violence in football and sports, and deeply regrets the insults shouted last night by a few supporters in a section of the stadium,” read the statement.

The club emphasized that it has already launched an investigation to identify those responsible, with the intent of enforcing appropriate disciplinary and legal actions.

This latest incident adds to a growing discourse on racism within Spanish football, underscoring the urgent need for stronger measures to prevent hate-driven behavior from tainting the sport.
