DRC bolsters Police Forces: President Tshisekedi delivers critical security support to greater oriental region
In a significant move to enhance regional security operations, Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi has delivered a fleet of 63 all-terrain vehicles to the Greater Oriental provinces. The handover ceremony, held at Bangboka Airport in Kisangani on Saturday, October 26, marks a crucial step in strengthening law enforcement capabilities in this vast territory.
Standing before provincial authorities and security officials, Tshisekedi emphasized this delivery’s strategic importance: “These utility vehicles directly address the longstanding mobility concerns expressed by our provincial authorities,” he stated, highlighting his administration’s commitment to reinforcing national security infrastructure.
The timing of this support is particularly significant as the Greater Oriental region continues to grapple with various security challenges and illicit activities.
These robust vehicles will enable police squadrons to effectively patrol remote areas and respond swiftly to emergencies, a capability that has been notably lacking in the region.
Local leaders welcomed the initiative, viewing it as a concrete demonstration of the central government’s commitment to provincial security needs.
“This equipment will revolutionize our response capabilities,” noted a senior provincial police official, speaking on condition of anonymity.
This delivery is part of a broader national security enhancement program, reflecting Tshisekedi’s systematic approach to strengthening law enforcement across the DRC.
As the country continues to face complex security challenges, such material support becomes increasingly crucial for maintaining stability and protecting civilian populations.
The gesture also sends a strong message about the government’s dedication to equipping all provinces with necessary security resources, regardless of their distance from the capital, Kinshasa.
