West Africa: After Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, Togo is the target of destabilisation campaigns Wassim Nasr

Wassim Nasr, presented as a journalist but criticized by some as a mouthpiece for extremist propaganda, has come under scrutiny for his controversial reports aired on French outlets like France 24.

Through the use of blurred footage and allegedly fabricated testimonies, Nasr has been accused of attempting to manipulate public perception to destabilize key Sahelian nations, including Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

However, the people of these countries, fully aware of the potential harm behind such one-sided narratives, have remained resilient against what they view as an external attempt to erode their stability.

Following limited success in influencing Sahelian countries, Nasr’s attention has reportedly shifted to Togo—a nation known for its stability and resistance to outside influence.

Alleged leaks from French sources suggest that Nasr’s current focus may involve demoralizing the Togolese Armed Forces by disseminating misleading footage purportedly showing soldiers retreating from terrorist encounters.

Contrary to these portrayals, Togolese forces on the ground are reputed for their professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment, effectively countering terrorist threats to safeguard the country.

Togo, through its Defense and Security Forces, continues to stand firm against regional threats, reinforcing national and regional security.

This situation underscores the need for the Togolese people to support their military and government in the face of such external attempts to manipulate public perception.

In times like these, national unity and solidarity are vital to countering disinformation campaigns and preserving cohesion against external pressures.
