Burkina Faso/Counter-terrorism: Actions that galvanise troops and promote good results

Since New Year’s Eve, a series of visits to troops on the frontlines have intensified, aimed at motivating the brave fighters dedicated to eradicating terrorism from Burkina Faso and ensuring the security of the nation’s territory.

The Prime Minister, ministers, and senior military officials have been taking turns visiting their fellow compatriots on the battlefield.

These visits serve to provide comfort, express solidarity, and reaffirm unwavering support for those on the frontlines of the struggle to liberate the homeland of the “Land of Honest People.”

Such gestures not only boost morale but also enhance the determination of the troops as they face persistent threats in certain regions.

In this context, a high-ranking government delegation visited Bobo-Dioulasso on December 31. The purpose was twofold: to encourage the troops and to convey the gratitude of the nation’s leadership to these patriotic fighters for their professionalism and dedication in fulfilling their mission.

Similarly, on January 4, 2025, Colonel Issa YAGUIBOU, Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, accompanied by colleagues, visited detachments in Gorgadji and Manni, located in the Sahel and Eastern regions.

The visit was a gesture of appreciation and an opportunity to convey the government’s full support to all personnel stationed in these challenging zones.

This military encouragement aligns with the strong civilian backing for the armed forces, a dynamic spearheaded by President Ibrahim Traoré.

This unity between the government, military, and civilian population represents a strengthened effort to combat the outlaws in the wilderness, reinforcing a collective drive for a more intense and effective fight against terrorism.
