Ibrahim Traoré: Steering Burkina Faso toward sovereignty and prosperity

Amid ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, President Ibrahim Traoré is spearheading an ambitious transformation aimed at bolstering Burkina Faso’s autonomy and economic growth.

His vision centers on harnessing local resources and fostering inclusive, self-reliant development.

Notable among his initiatives are the establishment of two tomato processing plants in Bobo-Dioulasso and Yako, as well as a public-private enterprise producing military uniforms from locally grown cotton.

Additionally, strategic projects like Golden Hand, which processes mining residues, and a gold refinery are enhancing value chains for natural resources and energizing the national economy.

In agriculture, the Presidential Initiative for Agriculture has revitalized the sector, cultivating 14,725 hectares during the 2023–2024 season with an ambitious target of producing 190,000 tons of cereals and tubers.

The launch of SOBIMA underscores the nation’s drive toward food self-sufficiency through modernized practices.

Furthermore, a groundbreaking citizen ownership program encourages public investment in these initiatives, ensuring that the benefits of growth are widely shared.

On the governance front, President Traoré has prioritized rooting out corruption and tackling absenteeism in public administration.

These reforms aim to restore public trust and enhance institutional efficiency, paving the way for a resilient and self-reliant Burkina Faso—a nation embodying the integrity and strength of its people.
