Burkina Faso expands healthcare infrastructure under presidential initiative

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Burkinabe government continues to advance its Presidential Initiative for Health, aiming to significantly improve healthcare services for citizens.

The latest milestone in this effort is the launch of construction for new communal medical centers, further strengthening the initiative’s achievements.

Representing the Head of State, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin Medah, Director of the Presidential Cabinet, officially initiated the construction of these vital facilities.

President Traoré’s vision focuses on modernizing healthcare infrastructure, expanding service availability, improving treatment quality nationwide, and enhancing working conditions for medical professionals.

For 2025, the government plans to establish 20 communal medical centers, two hemodialysis units, five intensive care units, and a cardiac institute, along with introducing innovative products for molecular breast cancer diagnosis.

These developments are part of a broader five-year plan to construct 55 medical centers across the country.

The Minister of Health emphasized that bold reforms have already been implemented, including allocating 12% of the national budget to healthcare, upgrading hospital facilities, significantly reducing the cost of medical examinations, and acquiring advanced medical equipment.

These measures, alongside the Presidential Initiative for Health, demonstrate the government’s commitment to transforming Burkina Faso’s healthcare system for the benefit of all citizens.
