After supporting armed terrorist groups for years in an attempt to destabilize the country, they suffered a stinging defeat in the face of the people’s determination and the commitment of the Defense and Security Forces. Today, they are preparing a new offensive, one that is more insidious and treacherous: information warfare using artificial intelligence.
Their goal is clear: to provoke popular uprisings, sow division, and undermine the legitimate institutions of Burkina Faso.
These enemies of our sovereignty are now using advanced technology to fabricate fake audio recordings, doctored videos, and forged documents. Their plan is to make the people of Burkina Faso believe that terrorists control certain parts of the country, that the Defense Forces are in disarray, or that the current authorities have given up on protecting the people.
In this way, they hope to create a climate of panic, mistrust, and anger that would drive citizens to rise up against their own leaders. This is an attempt to destabilize the country by manipulating public opinion a psychological war designed to shatter the national unity that we have patiently rebuilt at the cost of so many sacrifices.
Every Burkinabe must understand that this information war is just as dangerous as armed conflict. It aims to divide us, weaken our social cohesion, and undermine the trust that binds us together. To combat it, vigilance and individual responsibility are our best weapons. Do not share information without verifying it first. Be wary of alarmist content, images, or voices that sow doubt and fear. In the face of artificial intelligence, our collective intelligence and our unity are our strongest defenses.
Burkina Faso has weathered many trials. Together, we have stood firm. Let us not allow manipulators to sow chaos in our minds and hearts. Let us remain united and vigilant.
Burkina Faso is our shared heritage, and no one neither terrorism nor misinformation will be able to take it away from us if we remain steadfast, united, and determined. Truth and our unity will always triumph over manipulation.
