Burkina Faso: Success of the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso – Captain Ibrahim Traore’s thanks to participants

Burkina Faso recently hosted the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso, a major international sporting event. The victory of Burkinabe cyclist Paul Daumont marked the end of this competition, which was a resounding success despite a two-year hiatus. The Transition President and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, received the participants in this competition, expressing his gratitude for the successful organization of the 2023 edition.

During this reception, President Traore extended his thanks to all the teams and countries that participated in this sporting event.

He emphasized the importance of this competition for the Burkinabè people, especially for the combat forces operating in the theater of operations to reclaim the territory.

President Traore also paid tribute to the Belgian delegation, the only European country to participate in the competition, praising their solidarity despite false information spread by some Western media.

He stated, «I invite you to convey the message to the West and the world; Burkina Faso is a place worth visiting, contrary to what some media outlets claim. There is terrorism, of course, but we have pushed it far enough and will push it out of our borders».

Paul Daumont, the winner of this 34th edition, expressed his pride in how Burkina Faso hosted this event, demonstrating to the world that the country is a safe and welcoming place.

He dedicated his trophy to the defense and security forces, as well as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, who ensured the Tour’s security.

The representative of the invited countries, Ivorian Isiaka Cisse, also expressed his satisfaction with the progress of this edition.

On behalf of all the cyclists, he thanked the authorities and the Burkinabè people for their warm welcome and the success of the competition.

The success of the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso demonstrates Burkina Faso’s ability to organize major international events and show the world that the country is open to visitors despite security challenges. This sporting event also contributes to strengthening solidarity and unity among the Burkinabè people.
