The third and final day of the group stages in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations kicked off with the Cap Verde, already qualified, facing Egypt at the Félix Houphouët Boigny Stadium. Simultaneously, Mozambique confronted Ghana at the Allassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpé. Ultimately, both matches ended in draws, with Cap Verde holding Egypt to a 2-2 draw and Ghana sharing the same result against Mozambique.

Despite already securing a spot in the Round of 16, Cap Verde showcased an impressive performance against Egypt.

Ryan Mendes played a key role in the first half, providing a cross that Gilson Benchimol (45+1′, 1-0) headed into the net, giving Cap Verde the lead.

In the second half, Egypt quickly leveled the score as Trezeguet (50′, 1-1) equalized with a well-executed move in the box.

Mohamed Salah, watching from the stands due to injury, witnessed the left-footed shot that eluded the turning Vozinha.

The closing moments saw further excitement, with Mostafa Mohamed (90+3′, 1-2) restoring the lead for Egypt.

However, Cap Verde responded with Teixeira (90+9′, 2-2), securing a draw in the dying minutes. The final score remained at two goals apiece.
