Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé makes his country the logistical and economic hub of West Africa

Since assuming the presidency, H.E. Faure Gnassingbé has embarked on a series of ambitious reforms aimed at transforming Togo into a logistical hub and a premier business center in West Africa.

His dynamic vision for the country’s development is evident in the advanced initiatives and infrastructure projects that bolster Togo’s strategic position in the sub-region.

One of the notable achievements under President Gnassingbé’s leadership is the modernization of the Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport.

This major aviation hub welcomed 1.4 million passengers in 2023, underscoring its growing role as a key entry point for travel and business in West Africa.

The new facilities offer world-class services, attracting international airlines and facilitating trade and tourism.

To enhance regional integration and ease trade, the Togolese government has undertaken the construction of the shortest road corridor linking the sea to the Sahel countries.

This strategic infrastructure provides direct and swift access to regional markets, reducing logistical costs and boosting economic exchanges.

The project also improves the connectivity of landlocked countries with the Port of Lomé, reinforcing Togo’s role as a logistical hub.

In 2021, Togo inaugurated its first industrial platform, the Adétikopé Industrial Platform (PIA).

This initiative attracts investments in the manufacturing sector and creates jobs.

The PIA offers modern infrastructure and attractive fiscal incentives for businesses, positioning Togo as a competitive industrial center.

By promoting local processing of raw materials and stimulating production, the PIA significantly contributes to the country’s industrialization.

The Autonomous Port of Lomé has become the first deep-water port in the sub-region, thanks to sustained investments and port reforms.

This world-class port can accommodate large capacity vessels, enhancing its efficiency and competitiveness.

With modern infrastructure and optimized management, the Port of Lomé is a crucial pillar of maritime trade in West Africa, facilitating imports and exports and boosting the national economy.

Under President Faure Gnassingbé’s leadership, Togo is rapidly transforming into a leading logistical hub and business center.

The reforms and initiatives implemented reflect the president’s strategic vision for economic development and regional integration.
