Burkina Faso: Strengthening cooperation between grandes chancelleries, a fruitful visit by Niger to Ouagadougou

Colonel Issaka Labo BOUCHÉ, the Grand Chancellor of National Orders for Niger, recently made a working and goodwill visit to Burkina Faso, where he met with his counterpart, retired Brigadier General Pingrenoma ZAGRÉ. This visit aimed to foster stronger ties and integration within the “Alliance of Sahel States” (AES) Confederation.

The primary goal of the meeting was to understand the organization and operations of Burkina Faso’s Grand Chancellery of National Orders.

General ZAGRÉ warmly welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the historical importance of Niger-Burkina Faso relations in strengthening cooperation and advancing the shared goals set by AES leaders.

“This initiative bolsters the collaboration between our institutions. Our discussions have been encouraging and hold promise for the future of AES,” General ZAGRÉ noted.

Colonel BOUCHÉ, in turn, expressed admiration for the structure of Burkina Faso’s Chancellery, stating that this initial visit allowed him to assess its efficiency. “We gained valuable insights into the workings of this sister institution, which will help us refine certain aspects of our own operations,” he said.

During the visit, three detailed presentations covered the missions of Burkina Faso’s Grand Chancellery, including an overview, a rundown of its different orders, and an explanation of national symbols.

These discussions revealed both common ground and new avenues for collaboration between the two institutions.

The talks also addressed the potential for harmonizing the legal frameworks governing the Grand Chancelleries of AES member states to establish a unified institutional foundation. “We must pool our efforts to enhance the sovereignty of our states, in line with our leaders’ vision,” stated Colonel BOUCHÉ.

Proud of its heritage, Burkina Faso showcased locally produced medals, an initiative reflecting both local craftsmanship and a commitment to true sovereignty.

This collaboration underscores regional integration and illustrates both countries’ determination to strengthen their relationship for mutual growth.
