Boxing: Dubois seeks redemption in undisputed heavyweight showdown against Usyk

Daniel Dubois gets his shot at revenge when he faces Oleksandr Usyk in a high-stakes rematch for the undisputed heavyweight crown on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.

Usyk (23-0), the reigning WBA, WBO, and WBC champion, previously stopped Dubois in nine rounds in 2023. The Ukrainian made history last year by dethroning Tyson Fury to become the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight king—before vacating the IBF title ahead of his Fury rematch.

Dubois (21-2), now the IBF champion after a controversial first bout with Usyk, believes justice was denied. “I should have won last time,” he declared. “Now, in front of my home crowd, I’ll prove I’m the better fighter.”

Usyk, unfazed, quipped: “Thank you for keeping my belt warm—I’m taking it back.”

A victory would make Dubois Britain’s first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

But Usyk, still at the peak of his powers, remains the favourite in what promises to be a defining night for the division.
