Maghnes Akliouche Torn Between France and Algeria

AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, 22, faces a pivotal decision over his international future, torn between representing France or Algeria. The talented winger, of Algerian descent, has been instrumental for Monaco this season, with 5 goals and 8 assists in 33 matches. Despite his success, Akliouche remains undecided about his national team allegiance.

Having risen through France’s youth ranks and contributed to an Olympic medal, Akliouche acknowledges his ties to Les Bleus. However, he is keeping his options open.

“I’ve come through all the youth levels with France and had significant moments, like the Olympics. But for now, my focus is on giving my best for Monaco. We’ll see about the rest later,” he told Téléfoot on TF1.

His hesitation comes as France’s coach, Didier Deschamps, recently hinted that neither Akliouche nor Rayan Cherki are likely to feature for the senior team soon.

This has sparked speculation that Algeria, keen to recruit dual-nationality talents, could be a viable option.

As Akliouche continues to excel at club level, the football world awaits his decision, adding intrigue to his already promising career.
