Togo Strengthens Women’s financial independence through inclusive financing

The Togolese government continues its relentless efforts to empower women economically. Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, several initiatives have been launched to promote entrepreneurship and improve access to financial resources.
Among them, the National Fund for Inclusive Finance (FNFI) stands out as a key instrument in supporting disadvantaged communities, particularly women, by providing tailored microloans.
Over the past decade, the FNFI has disbursed more than 113.6 billion FCFA, benefiting nearly 1.9 million people.
Some of its most impactful programs include APSEF, which finances small income-generating businesses, AGRISEF, designed for farmers, and AJSEF, aimed at assisting young artisans.
Women, at the heart of these initiatives, have leveraged these opportunities to grow their businesses and enhance their livelihoods.
The FNFI’s reach extends nationwide, with 255 service points ensuring accessibility for all.
The program also boasts an impressive loan repayment rate of 94.1%, reflecting the commitment and reliability of beneficiaries.
Looking ahead, the government is determined to expand these efforts, ensuring that even more citizens can benefit from financial inclusion and economic empowerment.
