Lewandowski shines with brace in Barcelona’s 4-1 win over Girona

Despite repeated criticism this season, Robert Lewandowski shone in Barcelona’s 4-1 victory over Girona on Sunday. The Polish striker, who scored a brace, responded spectacularly to those who doubted his performances. Since his arrival at Barcelona in 2022, Lewandowski, although consistently posting solid statistics, has faced criticism for his sometimes slow play and occasional lack of finishing. However, with 38 goals this season, he remains the top scorer in La Liga and is in excellent form.

His brace against Girona showcased his class and goal-scoring instincts, particularly with an acrobatic shot and a second well-taken goal. These performances serve as a reminder of the massive impact he had at Bayern Munich and continues to have at Barcelona, despite being 36 years old.

After the match, Lewandowski expressed satisfaction in silencing his critics, emphasizing that his current statistics were no different from those in previous years. He also stressed the importance of the collective and team spirit. The support of his coach, Hansi Flick, who led him successfully at Bayern, also seems to be playing a key role in the striker’s resurgence.

With his determination and incredible drive for records, Lewandowski appears to be on track to have one of the best seasons of his career.
