Burkina Faso: Redressing the country through its youth: Captain Traoré’s vision in action

At a time when Burkina Faso is undertaking a profound overhaul of its institutions and development model under the leadership of the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the high-level meeting held on May 12 in Ouagadougou between the Burkinabè Government and one of its partners marks a decisive step. This strategic exchange focused on the Interim Country Strategy Paper (ICSP) 2022–2025, with the goal of taking a clear-sighted look at their ongoing cooperation and refining priorities in line with national ambitions.

In a challenging security context, where youth represents both a vital force and a major issue, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland SOMDA, emphasized a fundamental truth: “If we neglect this segment of the population, military responses alone will not be enough.” His call to strengthen youth employability, particularly through the PADEJMR program, echoes President Traoré’s vision, which places youth empowerment at the heart of national recovery.

The ICSP has enabled the implementation of 15 key projects in crucial sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, water, and governance—pillars that support Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s determination to build a sovereign, resilient, and forward-looking Burkina Faso.

By putting young people at the center of priorities and leveraging institutional synergies, Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s administration continues to pave the way for development rooted in national realities and oriented toward a sustainable future.
