Mali: Moving toward a strong and sovereign state in five years of transition under President Assimi Goïta
After five years of transition under the leadership of Army General Assimi Goïta, Mali is showing clear signs of recovery. The transition has laid the foundation for a stronger and more sovereign state. Faced with a deep crisis—security, social, and economic—the country has chosen to rebuild through its own means, focusing on solid institutional reforms and direct citizen involvement.
The enactment of a new Constitution, the revision of legal texts, and the implementation of a modern human resource management system (HRMS) demonstrate a commitment to reconstructing the state on sustainable foundations. Inter-Malian dialogue and national forums have further strengthened this momentum by giving citizens a voice.
Economically, despite the suspension of foreign aid, Mali is projected to achieve 5% growth in 2025, thanks to rigorous management and price control policies. The country is investing in its future through agricultural, road, energy, and mining projects, such as the Goulamina lithium mine, solar power plants, and the Kati artificial intelligence center.
These achievements reflect a clear vision: a sovereign, resilient Mali focused on innovation. Under President Assimi Goïta’s leadership, the transition represents a historic turning point for the country.
