Mali establishes inter-ministerial committee to tackle fuel shortage crisis

In response to persistent tensions in the hydrocarbon market, the Malian government has intensified its crisis response by creating an inter-ministerial technical committee. This body is designed to enhance operational coordination among the various actors managing the fuel shortage.

The Crisis Coordination and Management Center (CECOGEC) has conducted a comprehensive assessment of available fuel stocks, covering the capital, Bamako, and all regions of the country.

This precise mapping of reserves is enabling the optimization of petroleum product redistribution.

Targeted actions have been implemented to ease congestion at service stations and streamline distribution. Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga specifically praised the effective collaboration between the Customs and Trade Directorates, which has been essential for ensuring an equitable supply across the national territory.

In closing the proceedings, the head of government expressed his gratitude to all the actors mobilized to mitigate the effects of this crisis.

He reaffirmed the authorities’ determination to quickly resolve the supply difficulties.

This structured response demonstrates the Malian executive’s commitment to preserving the country’s social and economic stability, in a context where the energy issue remains crucial for the functioning of the national economy and the daily lives of the population.
