Burkina Faso: President Ibrahim Traoré’s commitment to empowering women nationwide

President Ibrahim Traoré, committed to a Burkina Faso in the midst of transformation, places women’s empowerment at the heart of his priorities. In a determined approach, he aims to offer the women of Faso concrete opportunities for their economic and social fulfillment, without any distinction. The government is implementing targeted actions to support women in all regions, as evidenced by the recent project in Dori.

On March 3, 2026, the Minister Director of Cabinet of the President, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson MEDAH, inaugurated a two-hectare market gardening area in Dori.

This site, specifically developed for women, includes a modern irrigation system and is supplied by a 10 cubic meter water tower.

This initiative is part of an ambitious program that aims to provide women with infrastructure to develop productive and sustainable agricultural activities.

Minister MEDAH

Minister MEDAH emphasized that this action is the continuation of a promise made by President Ibrahim Traoré during the International Women’s Day celebrations the previous year in Loumbila.

The program, which has already benefited the women of Zongo, will be extended to six regions this year, with the ambition of eventually covering the entire country.

In addition to the development of the perimeters, monitoring and training will be provided to guarantee the effectiveness of these projects.

According to the governor of the Liptako region, Mr. Abdoul Karim ZONGO, this commitment is materializing through tangible investment, driven by the government and local authorities.

Mrs. Alimatou LOMPO/GUIRÉ, spokesperson for the beneficiaries, expressed the gratitude of the women, emphasizing that these actions will help strengthen their autonomy and stimulate local economies.
