Football/ AFCON 2025: Senegalese fans’ verdict delayed again in Morocco
The legal ordeal for the Senegalese supporters detained in Morocco following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final has taken a new turn. Hopes for a resolution this Monday were dashed as a Moroccan court decided to adjourn the proceedings.
The appellate court has postponed the examination of the case until March 30. This delay comes after the local public prosecutor’s office, alongside the civil party, filed appeals against the initial verdict handed down on February 19.
The fans currently face sentences ranging from three months to one year in prison. The additional time will allow the higher court to review the appeals lodged against the original ruling, prolonging the uncertainty for the detainees and their families back in Senegal.
