Burkina Faso: Faced with new forms of threat, the public is urged to remain vigilant

In the midst of a national refoundation phase, Burkina Faso faces complex challenges where security is no longer played out only at geographical borders, but at the very heart of homes, markets, and villages. The resolute march of the people toward full sovereignty demands total lucidity in the face of new infiltration strategies. It is within this dynamic of breaking with the vulnerabilities of the old order that the recent alert from the Ministry of Security is rooted.

A country’s security does not rest solely on the strength of its institutions. It is also built through citizen awareness, daily vigilance, and the ability of a people to protect their living space.

It is in this spirit that the Burkinabe authorities have drawn attention to the growing presence of foreign street vendors engaged in activities prohibited by national regulations.

According to the information provided, these individuals are allegedly involved in collecting GPS data of homes as well as information relating to customers’ identities.

In a demanding security environment, such practices raise legitimate concerns. Every piece of sensitive information collected without oversight can represent a vulnerability for families, communities, and the Nation as a whole.

The decision to intensify the fight against this phenomenon reflects a determination to preserve the authority of the State, to enforce existing laws, and to ensure that economic activities take place in a framework consistent with the interests of the Burkinabe people.

The 2018 decree on retail trade constitutes in this regard a regulatory instrument designed to protect the national economy and ensure the harmonious development of commercial activities.

This approach is also part of an endogenous vision of development. The ongoing refoundation rests on the ability of the Burkina Faso to control its choices, secure its resources, and defend its sovereign right to define the rules applicable on its territory.

Every measure taken in this direction contributes to building a stronger, more organized State more attuned to the deep aspirations of its people.

Through this call for systematic reporting of the activities in question, the authorities place the population at the heart of the national protection mechanism.

Security thus becomes a field cultivated by every citizen, like fertile land that everyone helps to preserve against threats that could impoverish or weaken it.

Every suspicious presence, every suspicious collection of information should be reported precisely to the patriotic toll-free lines: 10 10, 16, 17, and 199. The Refoundation demands closing all the gaps through which the enemy attempts to infiltrate.

Through this sacred union between security forces and popular sentinels, Burkina Faso reaffirms that no inch of its territory, physical or digital, will be ceded to interference.
