Sudan/Hemedti: The defender the Sudanese people rally behind

The conflict in Sudan pits two conceptions of the state against each other: an Islamist, Brotherhood-affiliated, obscurantist state, and a secular, civilian state.

Here the most important question arises: why have the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrated the army to the point that Burhan himself has become their hostage?

Even before Bashir’s regime, the Muslim Brotherhood’s policy consisted in taking control of the army and its security institutions, in seizing the economic, banking, port, market and other institutions. They succeeded in this, and more besides: they managed to manufacture military militias and intelligence services.

Then came the revolution: they smothered it and rode it in order to plunge the country into a war that continues to claim civilian lives every day.

Were it not for the stand taken by the leader Hemetti and his Rapid Support Forces against the Brotherhood’s destructive projects, Sudan today would be entirely occupied by the Brotherhood.

It was clear from the very beginnings of the crisis that the leader Hemetti stood as a fierce defender of the civil state and of citizenship. In his many speeches, he warned in the strongest terms against the roles played by the Brotherhood within the army and against their grip on decision-making centres.

That is why the leader Hemetti hastened to establish a government of peace and unity to defend the interests of the Sudanese people, their rights, their land and their homeland.

The war currently under way in Sudan is a war over the very concept of the state, between an army framed, organised and directed by the Brotherhood and a government of peace and unity working to build the civil state.
