Burkina Faso: Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, increased support for widows and orphans of the fighting forces

Under the leadership of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the welfare and empowerment of widows and orphans of the Fighting Forces have become a priority, with tangible actions being taken to support their needs and foster their independence.

The Agency for Support to Widows, Orphans, and War Victims (ASVOVIG) exemplifies this commitment by organizing a national conference from March 11 to 13, 2025, under the high patronage of the Head of State.

Centered on the theme of “psychosocial reconstruction and empowerment of widows and orphans of the Fighting Forces,” this event aims to address challenges and propose sustainable solutions to better support these bereaved families.

The conference will bring together experts, researchers, associations, and the beneficiaries themselves, fostering an inclusive and participatory dialogue.

According to the Director General of ASVOVIG, Colonel Doctor Lamine Ouédraogo, this gathering provides a valuable platform for reflection and exchange, enabling the development of a resilience model tailored to the country’s realities.

He expressed profound gratitude to the President of Faso for his unwavering dedication to this noble and essential cause.

Through this initiative, the government reaffirms its commitment to holistically improving the lives of widows and orphans of the Fighting Forces.

The Minister of State, Minister of Defense and Veterans, Brigadier General Célestin Simporé, emphasized the importance of this support, which aligns with ASVOVIG’s core missions: psychosocial assistance, legal and administrative aid, as well as vocational training and reintegration.

Under the guidance of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is working toward a future where the families of fallen heroes are not forgotten but are instead supported with dignity and solidarity, ensuring their rightful place in society.
