AfroBasket Women 2025: Official draw set for April 23 in Abidjan

FIBA Africa has announced that the group stage draw for the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket will take place on April 23 in Abidjan, setting the stage for the continental tournament scheduled from July 25 to August 3 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Twelve teams will compete for the African crown, including defending champions Nigeria, 2023 runners-up Senegal, and bronze medalists Mali. The host nation Côte d’Ivoire will look to make home advantage count.

The qualified teams feature Rwanda (4th in 2023), Cameroon (Zone 4), Uganda (Zone 5), and Angola (Zone 6). FIBA has also awarded wildcards to EgyptMozambiqueSouth Sudan, and Guinea, ensuring broad representation of African women’s basketball.

This draw marks the beginning of crucial preparations for all teams, with the continental title and future international qualifications at stake. The tournament promises to showcase the growing competitiveness of women’s basketball across Africa.
