Mali: Health, the country takes a step towards excellence in orthopaedic care and rehabilitation

As part of his vision to make Mali a regional leader in orthopedic care, the President of the Republic of Mali, General Assimi Goïta, through the Ministry of Health and Social Development, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), inaugurated the Center of Excellence in Orthotics and Prosthetics Sciences in Bamako.

This state-of-the-art center, established at a cost of over 160 million CFA francs within the premises of the National Orthopedic Center of Mali (CANOM) in Bamako with the support of the ICRC, meets international standards.

It is designed to train a new generation of Malian specialists in a conducive environment that combines theory and practice.

The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Health, Colonel Dr. Assa Badiallo Touré, in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education, Boureima Kansaye.

The first cohort consists of 23 students, including 9 women, enrolled in a Professional Bachelor’s program at the National Institute of Health Training and Research (INFSS).

This center marks a decisive step in ensuring the sustainability of physical rehabilitation services in Mali by training qualified professionals.

This ambitious project reflects a commitment to continuously improving the quality of healthcare for the Malian population, a key priority of the Malian President.
