Francis Ngannou involved in fatal accident in Cameroon

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou is reportedly linked to a tragic road accident in Yaoundé, Cameroon, during Easter weekend, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl.

According to local media, the incident occurred in the Omnisports district, where Ngannou was allegedly riding a motorcycle when he collided with the teenager.

Despite rushing her to Yaoundé General Hospital and covering medical expenses, the victim succumbed to her injuries after surgery.

Ngannou’s camp has yet to comment, and authorities have not confirmed whether an investigation will be opened. Questions remain over whether the teen died from crash-related trauma or surgical complications.

The tragedy adds to a difficult year for Ngannou, who lost his 15-month-old son, Kobe, in April 2024 due to an undiagnosed brain condition. The Cameroonian fighter recently returned to MMA with a win over Renan Ferreira, dedicating the victory to his late child.

The incident casts a shadow as Ngannou prepares to launch PFL Africa, his regional MMA promotion.
