Chelsea plot stunning swap deal involving french international to land Xavi Simons

Keen to end their summer transfer window with a marquee signing, Chelsea are reportedly preparing a sensational move for Xavi Simons, with a proposal that could see French international Christopher Nkunku head back to RB Leipzig.

The Premier League has dominated this summer’s transfer market, with Chelsea among the most active clubs. The Blues have already secured Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, João Pedro, Mamadou Sarr, Estevão, Kendry Paez, Dario Essugo, and most recently Jorrel Hato, spending close to €280 million. Despite an already crowded attacking line, further changes are expected before the window closes.

According to English media, Chelsea have approached the representatives of Xavi Simons, the 22-year-old Dutch international who was signed permanently by RB Leipzig in January for €50 million plus €30 million in bonuses. With Leipzig having already lost Benjamin Šeško to Manchester United, they are demanding around €69 million for Simons. The player himself is reportedly eager to join Enzo Maresca’s side.

To reach an agreement, Chelsea have explored the option of including Christopher Nkunku in the deal. The Guardian reports that talks are underway over a potential swap, with Leipzig keen on bringing Nkunku back as Šeško’s replacement. The French forward joined Chelsea in 2023 on a six-year contract but could now be on his way out.

Negotiations remain ongoing, and Chelsea may still have to pay a significant fee on top of Nkunku to secure Simons, whose market value is estimated at €70 million. The arrangement could satisfy all parties, especially as Chelsea are also open to offloading both Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson following recent attacking signings.
