UEFA Super Cup: PSG stuns Tottenham, Bayern struggles in the transfer market

Paris Saint-Germain pulled off yet another stunning comeback, claiming the first UEFA Super Cup in the club’s history with a dramatic win over Tottenham. Trailing 2-0 after an hour of play, Luis Enrique’s men found the spirit to level the score before sealing victory in the penalty shootout. This trophy adds to an already extraordinary season, following triumphs in Ligue 1, the French Cup, the Trophée des Champions, and the Champions League. PSG could even chase a historic sextuple, with the Intercontinental Cup on the horizon.

In England, Tottenham’s collapse was met with disappointment and criticism. The Daily Mirror described it as “pure agony” for the Spurs, who seemed destined for victory after Cristian Romero doubled the lead. However, the loss of Mohamed Kudus disrupted the team’s rhythm, forcing them to defend deeper and eventually concede twice. The British press pointed out the return of old habits for a club often cursed in finals, despite some encouraging signs for new manager Thomas Frank.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s hunt for attacking reinforcements continues. With Kingsley Coman set to leave, the Bavarian side has targeted Stuttgart’s highly promising forward Nick Woltemade. Yet, despite submitting a €60 million offer, Bayern’s bid was rejected, according to Bild. To secure the German international’s signature, the club will need to raise its offer, in what is shaping up to be a drawn-out and challenging transfer battle.
