Togo / Electricity for all: H.E. Faure Gnassingbé’s vision takes shape

The vision of the Chairman of the Council, Faure Gnassingbé, to make universal access to electricity a reality for every Togolese citizen is making tangible progress. This ambition, placed at the heart of the government’s social and economic policy, aims to reduce inequalities by improving living conditions, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas.

To bring this vision to life, the government has established the Fonds Tinga, an innovative mechanism designed to facilitate household access to electricity. Through this initiative, families—especially low-income ones—can benefit from subsidized and affordable connections, removing one of the main financial barriers to domestic electrification.

The results are already visible: around 21,430 new households have been connected to the national electricity grid thanks to the Fonds Tinga. This progress not only enhances household comfort but also promotes local economic development, enabling families to engage in income-generating activities and improve their productivity.

Thus, Togo’s energy coverage is gradually expanding, confirming the relevance of the government’s strategic choices. Today, the Fonds Tinga stands as an essential tool for social and energy inclusion and represents a decisive step toward achieving the goal of a Togo where every citizen, without exception, enjoys access to electricity.
