Burkina Faso: When customs authorities strengthen national security through record seizures
In a complex security context where vigilance and discipline remain the best defenses, the Bobo-Dioulasso Mobile Customs Brigade has once again demonstrated the strategic importance of its role in defending the interests of Burkina Faso. Through a series of large-scale operations, its teams have uncovered several fraud and smuggling networks with alarming ramifications, confirming the determination of the Customs administration to relentlessly combat insecurity in all its forms.
The results speak for themselves. Through meticulous investigations, the use of targeted intelligence, and thorough searches, officers seized particularly dangerous and illegal cargo: 80 cartons of prohibited medicines, 36 rolls of detonating cord, 8,025 detonators, 363 explosive sticks, 26 tons of plaster concealed under bales of used clothing, 10,300 sheets of foreign-made metal roofing, and 1,000 bags of chemical fertilizer, also of foreign origin.

With an estimated value of over 75 million CFA francs, these seizures are not just impressive figures; they above all represent decisive victories for national security and the country’s economic protection.
Every intercepted shipment, every prohibited product removed from the market, and every dismantled network is a step further toward consolidating a safer and more resilient Burkina Faso.
These operations illustrate the rigor, competence, and responsiveness of customs officers who, often in the shadows, wage a daily battle against cross-border crime.
Their work is not limited to collecting tax revenue; it extends to preserving public health, combating the trafficking of weapons and explosives, and protecting national economic resources.
In the face of current security challenges, the exemplary action of the Bobo-Dioulasso Mobile Brigade deserves to be acknowledged at its true value. It is a reminder that national security is a collective endeavour in which every institution has a vital role to play.
By redoubling their efficiency and professionalism, the Customs of Burkina Faso prove that the defense of the territory is not only waged on battlefields, but also at checkpoints, on the roads, and at the borders.
Thus, the Burkinabe Customs remains an essential sentinel, an economic and security shield, watching with determination over the integrity of the country and the well-being of its citizens.
