Mali and Russia strengthen defense ties in high-level Koulouba meeting

On November 10, 2025, President of Mali, His Excellency General Assimi Goïta, received a Russian delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Defense at the Koulouba Palace. The meeting, attended by senior Malian military officials including Defense Minister General Sadio Camara and Air Force Chief of Staff General Alou Boï Diarra, marks a significant step in deepening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Discussions focused on strengthening defense and security collaboration, with the Russian delegation reaffirming the commitment of Moscow to actively supporting Mali in its fight against terrorism.

This pledge comes amid an increasingly complex security landscape, where counterterrorism remains a top priority for the Malian government.

Both sides emphasized a partnership built on mutual trust, respect for national sovereignty, and sustainable cooperation.

Russia reiterated its solidarity with Mali, underscoring the need for a collective response to ongoing security challenges.

The meeting was held alongside the Bamako International Defense and Security Exhibition (BAMEX 2025), further highlighting the growing strategic importance of the Mali-Russia partnership in promoting regional stability.
