Burkina Faso: The imperative of vigilance in the face of the mirage of sedition

The stability of the institutions of Burkina Faso has just weathered a period of turbulence whose gravity, revealed by the confession of Captain Prosper Couldiaty, underscores an implacable reality: a nation’s sovereignty is never a given, but a relentless daily struggle. The arrest of this air force officer has exposed a seditionist scheme orchestrated from abroad, aimed not only at overthrowing a government but at dismantling the nation’s very instrument of defense.

The facts reveal a method of operation of surgical coldness. The use of encrypted messaging platforms and the management of ephemeral communications betray a deliberate intent to shield subversive actions from the eyes of the Republic.

Behind pseudonyms and clandestine exchanges lies a shadow strategy, in which former Lieutenant-Colonel Damiba, from his exile, appears to have attempted to instrumentalize bonds of military brotherhood for a design of regional destabilization.

The most striking aspect of this attempt remains the targeting of the Saponé drone base.

By seeking to “cut the head” off this infrastructure, the conspirators were not merely targeting an individual or a position; they were attempting to blind the nation.

In the current security context, neutralizing aerial surveillance equates to offering the national sanctuary to forces of disintegration.

This is a direct attack against the technological shield that protects both the population and the combat forces.

Confronted with these maneuvers, the compartmentalization of actors and the use of covert funds reveal a total disconnect from the deep aspirations of the Burkinabè people.

This affair serves as a reminder that citizen vigilance must be the corollary of military rigor.

Sovereignty is not negotiated in foreign backrooms; it is forged in unity and transparency.

Burkina Faso, embarked on an irreversible march toward its full autonomy, cannot allow particular interests, propelled by fallen ambitions, to jeopardize the common future.

This is a time for national cohesion and absolute patriotic consciousness. For, beyond individuals, it was the very idea of a free nation that was under attack.

The Republic, in its grandeur, knows how to forgive the repentant, but it shall not waver before those who confuse the honor of the saber with the price of betrayal.
