DRC: The Constitutional Court confirms Félix Tshisekedi’s victory

Having been presented as the favorite since the beginning of the electoral process for the presidential election on December 20, Felix Tshisekedi is set to begin his second term. The constitutional court confirmed on Tuesday evening the re-election of the incumbent candidate.

According to the final results of the presidential election on December 20 published by the constitutional court, Félix Tshisekedi obtained 73.47% of the votes cast.

Meanwhile, his main opponent, Moise Katumbi, secured the second position with 18.08% of the votes.

The judges of the electoral dispute also dismissed the appeal of Théodore Ngoy, who sought the annulment of the election due to alleged irregularities.

According to Patrick Muyaya, the spokesperson for the Congolese government, with the decision of the constitutional court, the «chapter of the presidential election closes».

The people have made their choice, placing their trust in Félix Tshisekedi by giving him a second chance to consolidate achievements for the development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

During the electoral campaign, the president demonstrated through his speeches that he is and will remain at the service of the people.

Mindful of the people’s interests, for his second term, Félix Tshisekedi promises an agenda that meets the aspirations of the population.

The president has made several commitments to ensure social and economic development for all the Congolese people.
